For over four and a half years, Marc Levingston has played an integral part in our team at Hope Timber Pallet & Recycling. During his time here, he has taken on multiple roles essential to keeping our company running smoothly, including building pallets, working in the saw shop, operating a f
orklift and performing quality control duties. Marc credits the atmosphere at Hope Timber and his teammates as his reasons for coming to work each day, stating that “work isn’t hard, but it isn’t easy. You can’t be afraid to work.” Marc’s supervisor and mentor describes him as a “Swiss Army Knife,” and his fellow employees note that operations don’t run as smoothly when he isn’t present.
Marc draws inspiration from two historical figures: Erik the Red and Genghis Khan, whom he describes as self-made visionaries willing to take risks. While Marc’s coworkers describe him as flexible, friendly and unique — traits not typically used to describe Erik the Red or Genghis Khan — he does share their “get the job done” mentality and has the ability to influence those around him. Marc’s admiration for these two leaders may also explain his passion for collecting swords.
While Marc is highly skilled in the positions he has held and presently holds at Hope Timber, he is curious about what a day at work would look like as a heavy equipment operator or truck driver. Marc acknowledges that all positions at Hope Timber require employees to exercise teamwork and the ability to work under pressure, similar to the characters in Marc’s favorite TV series of all time, MASH.
Like the spirit of the characters in MASH, Marc is able to find comedy and laughter amidst the daily challenges of work.
